2010 January

It is the year of the Tiger and what a roaring year it is going to be. 2010 is here and this will be the year that we have all worked so hard towards in making this the show piece of South Africa to the world.

From vendors to the dreaded taxi’s, new railway systems and yes, vuvusela’s they are all ready. Big billboards are advertising our eagerness to one and all. Stadiums are being completed and have already become part of communities. Yet, with all this around us we still have our questions and few uncertainties - what is going to happen after this mother of all PR projects? Well, here are some fact and figures that will or may slightly ease your questions.
  • 400 000 expected foreign tourists
  • R16BN expected tax income to government
  • 200 000 number of tourists to visit between 2011-2015 as result of spin-offs
  • R55BN estimated injection to economy
  • R9, 2BN allocated to improve public transport.
  • R25BN Fifa’s expected earnings from media rights.

So, as you can see this is truly a great showcase to what our beautiful country has to offer and I urge all our visitors, our locals to make this the biggest and best show piece to show the world what our country is all about.

The Restaurant @ Clos Malverne is booming and doing very well. We believe we have the correct formula to provide all the guests with a great experience. Our well-known Clos Malverne wines are definitely the best companion to our lovely food dishes. Imagine the great combination of a fresh crisp Clos Malverne Sauvignon Blanc with our Chef’s Chicken, asparagus and citrus salad. The perfect balance between the acidity of the wine with the citrus grapefruit lime…

Come be part of this momentous event and make Clos Malverne part of the memories. We will be introducing lovely food pairings and wine evenings during the World Cup so you will most definitely not be bored after spending a nice day at the soccer pitch. Remember it will be winter and what better place to spend an evening than near the fireplace with some true South African dishes with our wines as companion.

Have a great start to 2010 and make the best of all the opportunities that life presents and let this year be a healthy year.
