All the personnel at Clos Malverne, including the previously disadvantaged group, are members of the company pension scheme. The company pays 50% of the monthly contributions. Clos Malverne pays 100% of the contribution of the Disability and Death insurance premiums.
Houses for the farm workers were bought in the Ridge, a lovely area in Stellenbosch. Contributions are made by each worker whereby 25% of their monthly salary is channelled towards down payment of the houses. The intention is that the workers receive full title of their houses within tree to five years. The balance of the outstanding amount on these homes could at that stage be funded by using normal bond facilities through any bank.
They would then be unencumbered should they want to leave our employment - without haring any monetary obligation towards Clos Malverne. Most of our workers also own vehicles and drive the 10km to the farm.
Our four-legget friends at the Animal Welfare Society, situated in the Devon Valley a mere stone's though away, also benefit from the farm. Every cellar tour at Clos Malverne, results in a donation from the visitors which is used to buy food, blankets or for the upkeep of the sleeping quarters of the animals.
The above has made a huge difference to our people and the Devon Valley– they have hope and vision for the future.
